Travelling through 7,107 Islands
Word of advice, use airplanes when travelling inter island as much as possible. Cebu Pacific - No frills, mostly on time, Philippine Airlines - country's legacy airline, AirPhilippines - another no frills airline, and other airlines are far safer compared to ferry companies.
You would think that the Philippines with 7,107 islands is safe to travel by ship and boats. Sadly, MV Dona Paz was the deadliest ferry disaster in world history with a death toll of at most 4,375 people. Ships are still sinking, despite the number of government agencies handling maritime transportation, namely Marina, Coast Guard, Port Authority, and others that I missed.
If ever you need to use ferry services don't expect them to be on time, be your own regulator. Check the weather forecast if there are possible storm on the way - your ticket is cheaper than your life, if it looks overloaded - it is, and please buy yourself a life jacket because you won't get one.

Best place to …
Eat:
- Davao City. You won't believe the number of restaurants offering all-you-can-eat buffets. From around PhP100 up. Reversely, you should have a very good reason to set up a dining business here.
Settle in/ Retire:
- Davao City. Peace and Order (Just Dial 911, fifteen minutes max from personal experience), low vehicular traffic (except parts of J.P. Laurel Ave) vs. other cities. Remote typhoon occurrence.
Buy Computers and Accessories:
- Gilmore St. Quezon City.
- CDR King. Accesories only. Nationwide Branches. Unbeatable prices.
Buy Flowers:
- Baguio City. Cool Climate in its surrounding provinces very conducive for flowering plants.
- Dangwa Bus Terminal, City of Manila. Fresh from Baguio.
Buy Car Parts and Accessories:
- Banawe, Quezon City.
- Evangelista St, Makati City.
Buy Balisong Knives(a.k.a. butterfly knife or fan knife):
- Balisong, Batangas
Buy Local Firearms (Paltik);
- Danao City, Cebu. Inexpensive but less reliable.
Buy Everything Else/ Get Robbed:
- Divisoria. From items overseas to local produce.
- Baclaran. A little pricer than Divisoria. A bit more accessible.
